How do I get started with the HPO?

 

1. Once you start classes at Rutgers-New Brunswick, open a file with the HPO: this will allow us to add you to our mailing list for important announcements and information throughout the year. The file is also a place to store letters of recommendation to be used for applications to medical and dental schools after you graduate. All requests to open an HPO file should be emailed with your name and RUID# to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  You do not need to meet with an HPO advisor first to open a HPO file.  (Click here for a brief presentation on how to open a file during Fall 2025)
   
   
2. Make an appointment, or come to walk-in hours with your questions. Meeting with an advisor at least once a year is strongly recommended. (Please click here for advising options during the Fall 2025 semester)
