Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), The National Prehealth Honor Society
AED functions both as an honor society and a service organization. The mission of the society is to encourage excellence in pre-professional health scholarship, to stimulate an appreciation for the importance of pre-health education and mentorship in students pursuing a career in the health professions, to promote partnership between pre-health students and educators to develop an adequate program of pre-health education and to create opportunities for students to use their knowledge to benefit Rutgers health organizations, charities, and the community. Eligible students must meet the following requirements:
- No less than three semesters (and at least 36 credit hours) completed and officially acknowledged by Rutgers University (transfer students must have completed at least one semester at Rutgers);
- No less than twelve credit hours in the natural sciences including both ongoing and completed courses (transfer students must have completed at least 4 credit hours in natural sciences courses at Rutgers);
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.5 and minimum science GPA of 3.4 (on HPOdrome). Transfer students must meet these GPA requirements both at their previous school and at Rutgers University.
Membership is by application only. Applications are available twice annually (Fall and Spring) and are always announced on the HPO listserv. If you qualify and wish to be considered for Spring membership, please fill out the following form and email it to Tracey Hasse (

Credentials are reviewed by the staff of the HPO. The names of eligible students are then given to the AED membership committee.
