- Fun Fact: I am a nontraditional student who experienced the workforce for a couple of years before returning to school to achieve my dream of becoming a Physician! While a student at Rutgers I continue to service as a Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic for two hospitals in New Jersey!
- Favorite Class and Why: General Biology with Dr. Stern-Cardinale is definitely my favorite educational experience at Rutgers thus far. Dr. Stern-Cardinale is a passionate and excellent professor that actively engages students and truly wants everyone to succeed. If you trust the process and complete your organizers, on-sequence Gen Bio provides a vital foundation of study habits, group studying, and community success. I largely attribute my academic success and achievements to the study habits I developed in Dr. Stern-Cardinale’s Gen Bio courses.
- Extracurriculars: ODASIS Scholar and Supplemental Instructor, Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic (MICP) - University Hospital and RWJBarnabas Health, Emergency Medicine Research Associate - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Volunteer Member, Former Assistant Captain - Highland Park First Aid Squad, Director - The Adom Project (Non-Profit Organisation), Practice Group Facilitator - Department of Biology, International College of Advanced Practice Paramedics, Paramedics for the Advancement of New Jersey Emergency Medical Service, Minority Men in Medicine, Latin American Students Association
- More About Me:
Hi, I’m Nabil! I am a non-traditional student majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Health & Society and Health Equity as well as an ODASIS scholar and Honors College student. After recovering from spinal surgery in 2020, I became a licensed paramedic and have since practiced advanced life support on Mobile Intensive Care Units in Newark and Jersey City! I also conduct clinical research on healthcare access disparities and am a director at a non-profit organization. Outside of school I enjoy going to the gym, hiking and camping, and playing soccer. I aspire to become an emergency medicine physician dedicated to serving underserved communities and advancing pre-hospital care systems. Feel free to connect with me about your nontraditional path, success in coursework, minors of interest, EMS, or anything related to your journey into medicine!
